The Work - External Considering
|
A great article: https://consciousharmony.org/glossary/external-considering/ There is an additional concept that might be called three-fold seeing. Seeing oneself, the other, and you could say both, simultaneously in one instant. When I first heard the concept, I had trouble seeing how this plays out in actuality. I would say that that concept has fundamentally reshaped the way I experience human interaction. I have a different kind of considering than I ever had in my life, I believe it would be called compassion. Where before if someone said something, I would reinterpret it to myself. Now when someone says something, it is as though I imagine life from their eyes, and my own eyes, and consider how my communication might be received by both myself and them. It reminds me of the way songwriters write multilayered lyrics. From that post - "The Work aphorism, “If you truly understood, you would not disagree” is an understanding brought about by the practice of external considering." It is the truth, it isn't that you do agree with the other.. It's that you would not take the action of disagreeing with the other because there is no reactionary energy prompting that response. And you understand where they are coming from, and understand that disagreeing with them is not going to aid them or you. With Love, Tyler Choice |
